This is a tricky area to furnish and decorate b/c there are 4 doorways and multiple pathways. The trestle table is solid oak, visually substantial. With no leaves in it is 36" X 48.5" - each leaf is 12" and it sits at a standard 30" tall. The boys have one leaf in it now. I would take it out and rotate the table. I have always liked that with the trestle you don't have to worry about the legs of the table as you seat people.
I think the seating should be a mixture of wood, maybe upholdstered chairs, wicker, a bench. There probably will not be a TV in this room. It would be nice if all the chairs (bench) could be used at the table and we could have the full table spread out.
